Para los más futboleros y para las madres, hoy traigo uno de los poemas más conmovedores y sucintos que he leído nunca: “Fútbol”, de Blanca Varela. Puestos a soñar, ¿no sería bello que Estrella Morente interpretara esta canción? (La poesía está en todas partes, por cierto. Mientras grababa el poema —y creo que por primera vez desde que llegó la primavera— un grupo de niños salió al campo de hierba en frente de mi casa para jugar a la pelota, y pude grabar sus risas e incorporarlas a la canción:)

Today I bring, for all you football fans and mothers out there, one of the most touching and pithy poems I’ve ever read: “Soccer”, by Blanca Varela. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Estrella Morente performed it? (Poetry, by the way, is everywhere. While I was recording the poem—and I think for the first time since Spring began—a bunch of kids went out to play soccer on the grass, in front of my apartment, and I managed to record their laughs and incorporate them into the song:)
